I need to return a 40” W4500 to elecrtosaver for a refund, there is a buzzing sound coming from the top of the set. They say I will have to send it back to them, that they do not pick up. When I called back to ask if I needed a returns number they were quite abrupt with me.

I’ve spoken to trading standards and have been advised to send a letter by recorded delivery concerning carriage and refund.

Has anyone else dealt with a similar situation?

Any advice would be great.

I would do what they advised you to do, with the addition of an e-mail telling them what you're intentions are.

You'll have to read their terms and conditions re: returning goods carriage but as you're not getting a replacement then they may test the set and then refund any carriage upon agreement of the fault.

I personally would take it back myself and be there to agree the fault, or make sure they arrangeor agree the return carriage providers because you don't want it to be damaged in transit and then have liability problems there.

Good luck

Thank you mate. electrosaver have agreed to pick it Monday afternoon. They say they will inspect it and get back to me regarding a refund. I found them to be very difficult on the phone and made little effort in helping me. I can imagine there will be a problem but have spoken to Sony and Trading Standards about my rights. They were supportive and agree I have the right to refund. If there is a problem I will speak to Trading Standards. A lesson learnt eh?

Regards
