DVI connectors ?

is it me but there appears to be more than one type of DVI connector the standard one which has multi[ple connectors and a single connector But my schools PC does not have that it has multiple connectors only why is this or is this not a DVI connector and where can i get such connectors ? could i use a USB to USB connector to connect from PC to monitor??

Yes there are at least two types of DVI connectors that I know of.

Is it just DVI or DVI + VGA +HDMI etc

Please take a picture of the back of the PC, so we can at least guess

now seen the difference thank you my ex schools pc has only has the multi DVI without that bit ie connector , it is just one long connector but has a converter to be able to use 2 monitors they are DVI dual link strange i thought and yes tie "D" has been disconted at the PC end
