I am wondering if the built-in dvb-t/freeview tuners on panasonic (or other) TV's are able to receive HD broadcasts?

The reason I ask is that exactly 1 yr ago I bought a Panasonic TH37PX80 with inbuilt dvb-t tuner and was told this was capable of the above, but here in Spain they have now started HD broadcasts and guess what... I have been told by Panasonic that this is not the case!

I feel rather gutted by this as now I'll have to buy another tuner in another box to see HD broadcasts!

ps found out that the newer pannys can receive these no probs!

In the UK you need a Freesat HD receiver (either built-in to the TV or as a separate plug-in box) to view Freesat HD, and you'll need a separate Freeview HD tuner to receive Freeview HD broadcasts when they start next year. Not sure what the HD broadcast system in Spain is, but suspect you'll need a separate set-top box.

Thanks all,

Yes I realise the system over here is different, my in-laws have just bought a panny G series which works fine on HD broadcasts!

Pity they didn't have all this sorted out already!

Ah well more boxes!!
