Hi,

I've got a vintage Dual CR60 amp from my grandfather and it looks pretty sweet. I'm new to the hi-fi world so I'm wondering if this is a good amp. Specs can be found here:

The speakers that came with it are a bit crappy and I'm looking to buy new ones. My main question is: Is it worth to invest in good speakers (around 500 euros) that match with this amp or is the amp not worth the investment?

Thanks!

No, don't consider spending anything like as much on speakers for it Arby.
Before deciding, try every switch and control. There's plenty there that could be causing crackles / intermittency after so many years.
It's also got DIN connectors (even for the speakers), so you'll need to make up, or buy, a few special leads .
This also means that modern sources such as DACs and CD players are likely to overload the Dual inputs, making attenuation necessary.
Even for the sake of sentimental / novelty value, it may not be worth the hassle.
See how it sounds first......but it might not just be the speakers that are 💩

Depends what music sources you need, but for less money you could get something like this, with higher output, plenty of facilities and some decent little speakers (with stands) to go with it:

The DIN-connectors can be a bit of a problem. But you can still get them. DIN speaker connectors are available. I used to have Dual equipment.

You can also get DIN - to RCA converters for other external components. It would be a nice combi with a Dual record player from the same era, with a DIN connector.

I remember equipment like that well. Dual also produced combi's with a record player built in. The presets for the FM radio were very handy at the time. You also need a converter for coax for FM radio.

It's interesting vintage equipment but it's probably wise to spend any money on it.
