Not exactly headphones I know, but used to drive them, how do you rate them. Have them in mind. Like the mojo as well but it's to expensive and less convenient

The Red is excellent, much better than the Black, but it's less efficient by several db. I find it plays nearly everything I have loudly from iPhones.

Thanks Dale, was 90% sure on this, but wanted a user experience, rather than a review. It's my next purchase now

I almost always do a full review on new headphones, but I haven't been doing formal reviews on amps for awhile now. The main problems I've had with small amps in the past few years have been driver install problems, or incompatibility with iPods and cellphones using OTG and camera adapters. The AudioQuest DACs have been great in having full compatibility, no driver issues, and best of all, low power draw so a powered USB isn't needed with cellphones. I get really good sound from the Red's headphone jack, but I've also experimented with using different amps from that jack, where the Red sees the amp's high-impedance input and (theoretically) switches its own amp output to a Line Output. That last feature should be the same as getting only the DAC output from the Red, but I haven't verified that, since volume is always controlled from the music player.
