Dolby Digital and Sky HD - Help Needed

OK Numpty question of the day.....................

I have now finally got Sky HD and have it connected to my ONK 875 via HDMI. However speech sounds very quiet in comparison to the general sound track. This is something that has arisen since new EPG installed itself.

I know I'm not getting DD as at the moment I'm unable to figure out how to get the ONK to override the HDMI sound signal and accept the sound from the optical input instead leaving just video carried by HDMI.

I wondered if I'd be better off connecting the HDMI straight to the plasma, and just have the sound going to the ONK but I'm worried about potential synch problems.

Anyone use the ONK in either config?

Yes, you do need the optical link.

To override the HDMI audio input call up the set-up screen, choose option 1, choose option 4 from the submenu, choose the input to which you have the Sky HD connected - I use CBL/SAT, but you may have it on GAME/TV, and select whichever optical input you've connected the sound to using the left-right movement of the joystick on the remote.

Exit set-up, job done.

I have my skyhd box sent straight to my TV via HDMI and optical output to my Onkyo 606. I have had no synch issues at all if you want to try this.
