I am confused by Dolby Atmos and wondering whether to dip my toes in, the answer is probably 'no' but hopefully some of you here can clarify things for me.
So far I have one music Blu Ray that has an Atmos track on it. When I play it through my existing stereo gear it of course converts to stereo. However I have read that you can listen to Atmos on existing stereo headphones and still get 50/60% of the immersive effect.
I assume I would need to get an Atmos compatible player like this one:
And an Atmos capable receiver like this one
So am I correct, or is there a cheaper way of doing it?
I would be happy to upgrade my Blu Ray player but another £400 for the receiver is probably a step too far especially since I am unlikely to have that many Atmos Blu Ray discs to make it worthwhile. (I have no intention of buying all the speakers needed for it and no interest in streaming btw.)
Thanks if anyone can help.
