Tsk, what is the world coming to, eh?

Indeed. Disgraceful.

The consequence of non-hi-fi stuff shoved into the that section is that threads tend to get less replies, purely because certain people can't be bothered to scroll down and find the relevent section, so they they just put it into the Hi-fi section.

i think someone should make a page for reccommended systems, as so many people come on here, ask just one question and disappear.

they could go up in £100+ steps and would be a good reference for any newcomers to have a browse through. both new and used systems.

i'll leave this to the pro's though, with multi-box swapping experience.

whoa!...steady on man.

I actually thought this was relavent to 'hifi'...why?..... I'm glad you asked.

Well this forum is flooded with 'which speaker for amp' or ' which amp for speaker' threads, well looking at these videos will give some an idea of what some believe are systems that sound good together. Indeed sound good enough for them to post a movie of their set up on this web site. Granted one cannot hear the true quality of these systems ( tried making a video myself on my phone - its really hard to get it to sound good ...seriously, you can hear the seperation and the bass on my set up, but its not a true representation of what it sounds like live. its also in mono so the sound stage cannot be appreciated)

Anyhoo, if it generates conversation its not all bad, is it?

Is that a true representation of how your system sounds?

Hi PP,

I know it doesn't really sound like in flesh, but does it sound rubbish?

Sounds like a real piano to me.

No, not rubbish. But if I heard that in a dem room, considering the amp and speaker/CDP cost, I would be disappointed.

But this is the reason why I wouldn't put my system on YouFace :) but differing recording equipement, along with different types of PC/Mac speakers or headphones, means some will sound really good, while others will be less than favourable.

Just for fun my friend..and I won't take it seriously either if it got lots of thumbs down..I've also received some pm's from some who've listened. So not bad;)

I propose the immediate, and strictly enforced, imposition of the Dewey Decimal System on this forum, before all is irretrievably lost.

I dont really bother with forums anymore but reading through this thread reminded me why I dont....

I used to frequent an extrememly popular AV forum.... ;) .....where there was a members gallery for systems, one guy, and he was just one of many, felt the need to post pictures of the outside of his house with BMW on the drive, letting everyone know he lived in Northern Ireland and proceeded to post loads of pics of his hifi, cinema system, bathroom and kitchen...as they had speakers in the ceiling....pr*ck...anyways, tis a very small world and would you believe it he got burgled, I must admit I did find it rather amusing  .

In other threads people were putting pics up and saying they had used a certain type of carpet underlay, what make of designer taps and light fittings etc etc, silly me made comment that this wasnt really the place to discuss this and maybe they should find a DIY website to discuss and brag about their home inetriors, I got banned by the mods for a fortnight, Ive never been back nor bothered with forums since as there is always some little keyboard warrior who has an axe to grind eh....

I sincerely hope Ive posted this in the incorrect section *cough cough*

I suppose it reflects the maturity level if you feel the need to have strangers validate your system by giving their thumbs up or flattering comments on a Youtube video of your system. Even my son who used to post videos of unboxing his new toys stopped doing that after he became a teenager.

I'm only thankful that audiophiles who post their systems on Youtube don't feel the need to provide their commentary as well, like those self indulgent wannabe sports commentators posting their worthless commentary on sports matches/games/fights instead of showing the actual highlights.

Agreed completely.

BTW I love the combination you've done in your system in your signature. Magical Spendors powered with authority by the Bryston, refined and enriched by Audio Research and all that fed with exciting musicality and PRaT from the Naim. Also well chosen cables, big fan of Kimber. That system probably took years to build and I am sure it sounds epic. I dream some day to have as good system as yours dude.

Well done hifikrazy!

In that case let's sling 'Favourite Punk Album', 'Galaxy Smartphone v Apple...', 'Premiership relegation fight', and all the vinyl threads into the 'Hi-Fi' section, as they're all vaguely connected to hi-fi in some way.

Personally don't have any objection to these type of threads, just put them in the right section. Let me reiterate: There's no point in WHFI S&V having all these different dedicated sub-sections if they're not fully utilised.

Granted, I have sinned a few times in this regard (can't join'em, beat'em  ) but generally you'll be hard pushed to find many threads of mine that are deliberately placed just to gain extra replies.
