Does Yamaha AS301 DAC support down mixing 5.1?

I sold my Denon 720ae amp and replaced it with AS301. I am planning on buying a blu ray player to connect to amp through the coaxial input. Some blu rays dont have a 2.0 option and only support 5.1.

Does the AS301 work with those blu rays or does it not downmix 5.1 to stereo? And if it doesnt is there any workaround?

One way is to run a cable from your optical output or RCA out of your TV to your amp. Your TV turns it to stereo and your amp, well, amplifies the sound to your stereo speakers
