Question Do You Run with Speaker Covers On or Off

On, as difference is negligible with the speakers I have had if any at all, however the only way to be sure is to try it for yourself and see which sounds best. (A lot of speakers are designed to be used with the grilles on)

Dynaudio say that the grills are optimised for SQ, but say that better SQ with the grills off.

It’s funny though how when people are selling damaged speakers on eBay that they always come with the grilles off perhaps there is a lesson in that...

I prefer the look and sound with the grilles off. My new q3020i have the grilles off and they look great. And sound great too! But they're in my study.
I'd prefer to have the covers off my Silver 8i, but they're floorstanders in the living room and I wanted them to survive the small people... Two holes in the fabric attest to the damage they have prevented to the cones.

Always off. Looks better and sounds waaaay better.

Any visiting kids know they are not even allowed to breathe at them, let alone touch them, so all good.

So I put my covers back on. It initially doesn't sound quite as good but they are optimised as Dynaudio suggest. So maybe it works?
It makes them seem quieter. It keeps the flavour of the song and has a more organic sound or it's just a bit muffled. 😛.
