Hello,Happy Easter to you all!I would like your recommendations for surround speaker placements in my living room.Room was newly repainted, so would like to avoid trial and error methods, if possible. The surround speakers are Monitor Audio Silver RX-FX which can be set in either Dipole or Bi-pole mode. The placement possibilities are rather limited due to the door position in the room and large windows along one side of the wall. The living room is circa 540 cm long by 460 cm wide. Facing towards the TV, there is a door at the back left hand corner and large windows all the way on the left hand side wall.In the sketch of the room below are the two possible placements I can think of, either on the side walls or the on back walls (Red and Yellow symbols) and in both positions the speakers would be at a height of 220 cm.Room sketch:

And a picture (whic is not too proportioal, I am afraid) to give an idea of how the room looks:

Thanks in advance!

Best regards Peter

Hello Peter!

5m from a 46" TV, the person on the back sofa will require binoculars! :) Although the TV on the photo seems to be a fair bit larger, if that's indeed its frame that's visible.

Is your preferred viewing position the armchair?

Those windows are indeed rather impractical, also for being a reflective area (with or without the venetian blinds). Does your suggestion mean affixing the speakers above the windows on that narrow band of wall to the ceiling?

Ultimately, there'll be little alternative to actually trying out both options and see what works better. The room size also does make a seven-speaker system preferable, so perhaps you could in fact even use both positions (the lateral ones to go a fair bit towards the middle of the room)?

Hello 7760,

Thanks for your response.

The back soffa is actually about 4.5 M from the TV. The TV is not visible in the bottom picture as the photo is taken from the front of the wall (where the TV is placed) looking down into the back of the room where the surrounds will be set up.

Yes the speakers will be above the windows on the narrow band (2.2 M from the ground), if they were to be placed on the side walls. On the backwalls I would think they would need to be above the door, (again 2.2 M above ground).

My main viewing position would be fom the back soffa, mainly.

Would like to learn from other Bi-Pole/Dipole speaker owners what they have found work best for them and avoid drilling many holes.

Best regards
