Clare Newsome:

The Denon pips the Sony for pure picture/sound performance, but the Sony is the better all-round price/performance/features winner; hence its Award!

Remember, the Denon is only a transport, and Profile 1.1 - if these things do not bother you, go for it.

Hi Clare,

Was wondering what you thought of it as a CD player?

Anyone interested Sevenoaks have them on for £438.

Thanks

Haider

I can't understand why people complain or even SELL a player as good as the 2500 because of the load times! By the time I go to the fridge to get a beer and put some popcorn in a bowl, it's ready to go! Who cares if the fastest player loads up in 20 seconds and with the Denon you have to wait a whole other 20 seconds! It's worth the wait! And I bet there isn't much else you could do in 20 seconds!

I agree Davo2008 most people on here would prefer a worst blu ray player than have to wait a minute for it to load.

First of all how ya doing Davo?

Ive always agreed to what youve just stated there, nowadays thay moan about anything just for the sake of moaning ! A quality machine like the 2500bt & they concentrate more on the loading times. Its worse when you go to the cinema with all the adverts they show, then they decide to show you trailers of forthcoming movies having sat through 20mins of adverts that have nothing to do with what there advertising !! Like you say Dave, i put the disc in then go get a drink by the time you get back hey presto, its getting silly now people reviewing the Denon that produces wonderful PQ & AQ but then say it takes 20 seconds longer to load than a sony or panasonic ive seen (WHO CARES!!!!) Thats like watching Shakira in all her glory but then saying her shoes were dodgy!

What is of PARAMOUNT importance is PICTURE & SOUND quality. Load times is a secondary issue.

HI I am stuck between the sony 760 and denon 2500...How much of it is an disadvantage being profile1.1

Its all god having the spec on the sheet, but how useful is it to have a profile 2.0?

I am also planning to upgrade the denon 3310 0r 4308a reciever.

Unless you're interested in the BD-Live features on a film (like being able to go online and chat to people during a film, sometimes there are games you can play, other times it's just to access things like trailers etc.) then you don't strictly need a Profile 2.0 player. Having said that, there's been a few cases where discs are badly programmed and won't play on Blu-Ray players without the Profile 2.0 option - this is generally sorted fairly quickly by a firmware upgrade, but that's about the only other thing to think about.
