Denon CEOL-N10 Owners opinions wanted...

Hey everyone!
I have owned a Denon CEOL-N10 for a couple of years, and whilst it works very well for kitchen stereo, it is often having problems that seem to be getting worse over time. I'm wondering if any other owners have similar problems, or do I have a duff unit?

Problems happen very unpredictably, but the unit often (sometime daily):

# Logs me out of my Heos account, requiring me to login again
# Can't find the wifi network

I need to 'hard restart' the machine and log in again to wifi/heos

Besides which it has persistent problems pairing with the other two HEOS devices I have in the kitchen. I just get the error that 'the devices couldn't be paired' from the HEOS app, which isn't very helpful.

Recently I've mostly been using it just as an FM receiver, as I don't want to spend 10 minutes logging back into wifi every morning, I just want to listen to some music.

Does anyone else have similar problems?

My mum has one, no problems at all. If you’re having daily problems check your wifi stability.

Now sometimes Heos is unable to connect, in which case do not reset the Ceol - just switch it off, and reboot your router. This works for me nearly 100%.

Now you mention kitchen stereo, so I assume the Ceol is in the kitchen? I found Wifi to be really shaky next to microwave ovens etc, so a few things:

1. Ensure your router is not line of sight to appliances like microwaves. Place it at least > 2m or more away, and well below line of sight - cannot stress this enough.

2. The Ceol is 5ghz compatible, so if you have a dual band router and if it’s not too far, connect your Ceol to the 5ghz band - this might be the fix, but I still recommend you do it in conjunction with 1 above.

3. If you don’t have a dual band router, now is the time to get one.

thanks for your response!
Dual-band router ✔
Don't own a microwave ✔
CEOL not near sources of electromagnetic interference ✔
Super powerful specialist router that reaches the top of the house (much further away than the kitchen) ✔
No problems with the 14 other things sharing the wifi ✔

If your mother's is reliable, I can only think that there must be something wrong with mine... :frowning:

I'm inclined to believe there may be something wrong with your unit then. Contact your dealer if you can, alternatively any Denon/Marantz dealer should be able to accept it for service.

I tend to agree but it might be worth trying a factory reset, first. This returns the device to the default settings as shipped. Basically, you then re-configure the device as though new. The manual will tell you how. The Denon site will have an online copy.

Well, I've sent it off for repair now, as by comparing it to the other N10 I own, it was clearly having some unusual problems. Thanks everyone for your advice!
