I am not sure i am getting HD Audio, When i am watching Batman Dark Knight it only displays as Digital rather than True HD .

When i change my blu ray player to bitstream it then says Multi Channel ?

Should it not say if it is digital ES or True HD on the display panel,

or have i missed something and i am hearing it without realising.

Thanks guys..

Let's get the quick question out of the way first.

Have you selected the HD soundtrack?

Forgive me if that sounds rude, but The Dark Knight is one of the annoying ones that defaults to the non-HD soundtrack.

It does not give me an option of a main menu, however the in screen display that comes up at the bottom of the screen gives you Audio Options , then says Audio button ?? whatever that means?

Have i missed a way of setting it prior to the film starting ?

Can't remember the wording of the menu (will check in a bit if need be).

The menu button on the remote should bring up a menu while the film is running. There should then be an "audio" or "language" option. Should show you soundtrack and subtitle options.

One of those should be Dolby True HD.

Or there'll probably be an "Audio" button on your remote that should scroll through the soundtracks.

It does not give me the option of playing in Dolby True HD in the menu ,

However , when i press the audio button on the DVD remote it scrolls through and does say on one of them Dolby True HD, but it does not change on the receiver panel from Digital so i am still not sure what i am receiving ?

In the manual it says a small box on the receiver front panel should light up saying True HD and i have not seen that at all ?

To do it through the menu structure, press menu on your remote and "Pause Movie - Setting - Scene Selections - Special Features" should appear at the bottom. Go into Settings, then Language Settings, and then pick English Dolby True HD. It'll then force you to pick subtitles, cos it's annoying like that.

Once you've picked the HD soundtrack, front of the receiver should say DOLBY TrueHD, and a blue light will come up at the right of the front panel to show that you're listening to HD audio.

Try doing it the above way, just in case your audio button is just scrolling through the soundtracks rather than selecting the last one you see.

If that doesn't work, it could be a "Secondary Audio" issue. Try the above, i'll see if i can find the manual for your player online...

Just looking at the manual for your blu ray player. Looks like it has two bitstream settings? If that's the case, make sure you're using "Bitstream - Audiophile"

Jammoe, your a star, cannot believe i missed it in the Language section !!

Spent all night last night trying to do that . The missus fell asleep in the end because i kept interrupting the film!!

Thanks again.

No worries fella. Nice to be able to actually help someone on here for a change.

Definitely worth the extra time to find that HD soundtrack, it's a stormer!

I've just done this and it is amazing! Can't believe I've been watching it with non-HD audio! Only thing is, you mention a blue light, my 2311 never displays a blue light when playing HD soundtracks. Should it be?

I have a 2311 and partnered with a Panasonic BD80 Player - there is a blue light on the player but not the amp

there was a blue light on the older 2310 but i think its been removed on the 2311, ive played loads of hd soundtracks and had no light, perhaps it comes on with 3d?
