Jase, in your opinion, do you think these powercords would show an improvement on my (budget) system? Or are they more beneficial in higher end systems?

Cheers, Torres09

jase fox:maxflinn:i have a question , if powerkords enhance the performance of tvs , why are they not sold with them ?? given that competition is so fierce , im not being argumentative , it seems common sense..
Ive thought this for a long time maxflinn, but for some reason they dont. Ive even read in manuals for bluray players etc were they say "u may want to consider getting a more higher grade HDMI cable for better picture quality? Strange as youd think theyd supply a much better cable, interconnect etc especially when they work & do produce better quality in both vision & sound.its certainly something ill look into , any improvement in p.q. is always welcome...

Torres09,

No, there not just beneficial in higher end systems as you can still get great results with budget kit, if anything its good to add them to lower end kit to bring the very best out of it, ive known a few people with budget stuff that use them & they give them very good results.

I once thought the way you did Max, i gave them a go & the only regret i had was why i didnt do it sooner as the improvement in PQ through my bluray player is highly substantial.

Sorry Jase one more thing, should i start off with 1 powercord, for my Sony BDP-350 or would 2 be overkill (the 2nd for the TV) ?

I've been thinking.....

Excluding the miles of cable before the power socket, if you check the insides of the amp or CD player, does the wiring from the IEC plug to the power supply look like silver coated or cryogenically frozen cable? Or is it a standard thick cheap wire ?

If the latter - and it's of similar quality to that before the "special cable", then how can that 0.5-1m of special cable inbetween the bog standard cable make any difference whatsoever?

I have no knowledge in this area, just can't understand this concept.

This is very true Torres, you have the right idea as at least with adding good powerkords there an upgrade in there own right & do give impressive results, more than what you think.

Ya know something bigboss, i once thought the way you did exactly the same points? I used to think "as if" ! And the thing is, apart from what ive read in the RA mags (which explain very well) i still find it a mystery to this day, but in the long & the short, they work !! I remember going to an air show a long time ago & i was sat very close to a Hercules (absolute huge aircraft) & i thought "how on earth does this get off the ground?? Now even though i was with some aviation boffs that explained to me how an aircraft gets off the ground it still made no sense to me and still to this day it baffles me, but the thing is "they do get up into the air" & like these powerkords? They do belt out great results to your PQ & AQ. Just do what i did & give them a go, what have you got to lose? If your not happy with them, send them back.

Torres09:Sorry Jase one more thing, should i start off with 1 powercord, for my Sony BDP-350 or would 2 be overkill (the 2nd for the TV) ?It is essentially best to add a powerkord to every component you have, as i have (taken me a few years) & they do add improvements to everything, however i think its best to just add one at a time so you can then appreciate the future upgrades in stages & then youll know which kord has brought what difference to your system. Id add one to your bluray player first then your tv Torres.

I asked this question to WHSAV once & they use the cable that comes with it as thats what the customer gets when they buy it, however they do review mains cables all the time (just check mains products in the review section of main page) & they also highly rate the classic powerkord.

Pittodriered:Thought so going by the continental shift pattern. Which plant Shell, TFE or Mobil?

I am replying out of courtesy "Mobil" but I have to stop the thread as it is not relevant to the post , I do not want to offend the other posters nor your good self

Happy to discuss in another forum

Jase, just a thought before mine arrive, later today hopefully, on nights at the moment, no sleep for me tomorrow :), would you say that the powerkord would be on the same level as say the cheaper Chord products like the superscreen just dearer, or the same level as the Power Chord but cheaper?

Braided cables remove RFI. What the internals of the component are like doesnt matter, the RFI has still been removed regardless

This is a great thread and has made me want to start my mains cable upgrading sooner than planned. A question then as it will be a gradual upgrade, what component would benefit most from upgrading the cable first? Television, blu-ray or receiver?

If i was you id certainly be wanting to sart the mains upgrade now.

Your question is a very good one, as ive added powerkords to all my kit if i was starting from scratch again which would i do first? mmmmm ? I think in my case id be tempted in doing my amp first, the reason for this is that everything is going into it i.e Sky, CDP, Bluray player, DVD recorder so therefore itll boost the sound to ALL the components, then i would add one to my Bluray player, CDP etc & i think id do the tv last. This is just my opinion of course, i mean if you havnt got everything connected to ur amp then you may wanna start with your bluray player or your CDP (depends which one you use the most)

Hope this helps

IMO True Blue id say its better than the superscreen, i much prefer BRAIDED cables as opposed to just screened ones & the RA are Teflon insulated & just very well made also the 320i wattgates are also my preferred connection, so in all the classic wins me over.

When you say "the same level as the power chord but cheaper? Im not sure which one your referring to mate? Pardon my ignorance here ha

Still not here :-(

Jase chord make a couple of power leads

The Superscreen approx £60 and the PowerChord approx £130

I have two powerchords, would you say the RA cable would be marketed at the lower or higher level?
