I have an opportunity to buy original pressings of both Time Out and Time further out, 1959 and 1961 respectively, both on CBS and in Stereo at a good price (less than new re-issues).

According to the seller both are in excellent near mint condition, vinyl and covers, both with original inner sleeves.

Is this a good purchase or should I instead opt for one of the numerous new re-issues?

I've not got this artist but have some original pressings from 50's, 60's and 70's which in

my mind sound better than the new 180grm reissues. I would go for it if they are cheaper, worse case you sell them.

Thanks all.

Its not a problem I just read somewhere they didnt use RIAA equalization for those (can't remember which one they used instead) and they can sound thin because of this unless the phono stage can compensate??

We'll see.

I normally clean everything before it gets near a needle but couldn't wait. Played a couple of tracks of each ... phenomenal, both condition of the records and sound.

Well pleased.
