Dali ikon 8/ikon 6mk2/Proac s140mk2/d18 - help

Hello,

i've listened ikon6mk2 and studio 140mk2, 140mk2 sounds a bit better on low end but less pleasant on high. unfortunately i don't have a chance yet to listen to ikon 8/d18.

wonder if anyone has audition or own the above speakers, any thoughts?

how do you mean, 'better? I think you should try to audition the D18, they sound very different from the Studio 140.

Were the 140.2's fully run in? If you weren't keen on the treble of the 140's, you'll more than likely find the D18's to your liking. The Studio 140.2's are much more upbeat and energetic sounding than the Response series, which is smoother and sweeter.

@helmut80 - ikon6.2 sounds more smooth while 140.2 sounds more harsh. ikon6.2 was paired with moon, 140.2 was paired with naim.

@frank - do you know if d18 is equally good as 140.2 at low end? i'll try to audition it then.

Better. The side vented bass loading which has been brought down from the D28 and D38 improves bass authority - one thing which was blatantly noticable over the previous D15 model.
That's not to say the D140.2 is any sort of slouch, but it just doesn't have the depth and authority of the D18's.
