Sorry for this but not that clued up on the tech stuff as you can tell.

My Panasonic TV had a free sat socket. I also have sky HD - if i want to try free sat do I have to unplug my box and hook up to the free sat socket ?

If so does it matter which one. Or do I need a brand new attachment from my dish.

Thanks

G

You can do that but in order to run both you will need an LMB on the dish that has a spare fee for you to run a permanent cable straight to the TV

only if you want to hard wire it for good, if its just a case of trying the facility, just unplug the sat feed from your Sky box and plug it into the TV and tune.

To try it, just remove your Sky subscription card, then you're on Freesat!!!

The Sky version has Five US and Fiver and Dave which the BBC Trust version does not, so it might be worth staying with Sky's free version (although I do believe you might need to purchase a one off £20 free card eventually to continue to get the free but encrypted channels ie ftv instead of fta channels such as Five US).

Only thing you can't do is record without subscription - Sky charge £10 per month for the privaledge.

Obviously to return to Sky HD's paid service, just pop your Sky card back in.

Low Noise Block Downconverter actually. Low noise block/blocker is a much mis-used term even within the industry itself!
