dac or sound card? help please

i want better sound quality from my pc to stereo amp so would i be better with a good sound card or a dac?

You would be better off with a studio qulity card rather than a Hi Fi card/Dac.

Do a Google search for studio quality sound cards, with good entry level cards here http://www.maudio.co.uk/index.php?do=products.family&ID=recording

If soley using your Pc, I'd be tempted to lok for a mint used UA-25EX.

If you just want a DAC with no bells and whistles, just good sound, then have a look at the Epiphany E-DAC.

I use an rPac for headphones in the office using a Apple Mac running itunes with lossless files and the sound is great. Tried it a home on the main system with good results , good upgrade and good value.
