As part of a different subscription, I am getting Spotify premium for a year. I usually listen to CDs via Marantz CD63 mk II sig and Audiolab 8000A. I do not usually listen via a computer but, if I do, I have to turn the amp volume up significantly. Would adding a DAC eliminate this need and improve sound quality? Would adding a DAC improve CD sound quality anyway?

Hi there, I reckon adding a dac to the pc would eliminate the need to turn the volume up on the amp, I recently got the arcam ir dac, mainly for a cd player upgrade (using the player as transport and transferring the number crunching on to the dac) but I also connected my i pod directly into it, I usually use the arcam ir dock for this and found I also had to raise the volume on the amp, but once I connected the i pod directly to the dac the volume was about the same trim as cd player, maybe better. The ir dac is on par with a midrange Arcam cd player and might even improve the sound of your own cd player, if it has a coaxial or optical out . oh, also it sounds very good through Spotify, extreme settings though.
