The "special offer" that I have got from Cyrus to upgrade my CD6SE is tempting, but it's still a lot of cash. any thoughts? My system is unchanged as per sig: K2 / Spendor S6e. I'm sure its somewhere buried in the forum (I didn't find with a quick 30s search) but the offer is £125 to upgrade to a 2010 spec (which sound slike they have fixed the disc size compatibility issue not that I have had a problem; and more interestingly CD6SE -> CD8SE 2010 for £399. Am ust wondering if it's worth the upgrade to the 8 given the probable limitations of the K2

In my opinion, Cyrus should offer this "upgrade" free of charge. For Cyrus to charge for this upgrade is utterly disgraceful. The electronics are unchanged and this is simply a cosmetic "modification" to put right what was a flawed original mechanical design.

The upgrade includes a new display, new loading bezel, and updates firmware for wider disc compatibility. Plus, your 2 year warranty starts again. And if they upgrade a 6 to an 8, it'll sound better too.

It's definitely a bargain for those who bought their CD6se and CD8se machines for less than the rrp when they were discontinued. Also, those who have had their machines a year are now halfway through their warranty. If they have the upgrade done, they get a new two year warranty which effectively means they've had 3 year altogether.

I agree that the upgrade to 2010 "spec" is somewhat ungenerous, given it could have worked that way from the start. I was more interested in the 6 to 8 upgrade, from memory I only paid £700 for the 6, so effectively I would have a 2010 spec 8SE for £1100. I think the cash is perhaps better spent on CDs and a new chair.

I totally agree, but on a software front. It is an expensive modification even at £125 'special offer'. I emailed to say that the firmware upgrade should be made available to all before the offer, when the new spec model came in - guess what? No response.
