Hi all,

I would like to hear your valued opinions on Creek Destiny amp. How does it compare to Primare I30 and MF a5.5. I know that there is a close race between Primare and MF but would like to know if Destiny stands any chance against these 2 great amps. I'll be able to demo Destiny and MF in a few weeks which isn't the case for Primare as there is no local dealer where I live. Thanks. (I have MA RS6 + Apollo Rega but my set up may change in the future).

I can't really help you but funnily enough I just thought a couple of days ago how little Creek/Epos has been mentioned on this particular forum lately. Hope you find some answers but generally it helps if you give some more information which may help someone to give you advise on the mentioned products.

Agree, not enough info for this amp. I'm looking into replacing my NAD C355BEE with an amp with a bigger soundstage, cleaner sound, something that would open up my speakers. NAD produces a bit of muddy sound to my taste.

Some might say I am a little biased against the MA silvers

. They are certainly not the clearest sounding speakers I've had the pleasure to use but if it is of any help, Arcam's A38 did match nicely. Very clean sounding amplifier with a lovely clear open treble/sound stage and decent, controlled bass. The opposite really to your speakers. Not one of my favorites either but hey ...

I've heard them with mbl 7006 and they can sing, but that amp is just way out of my budget. heard the Arcam A38 with Paradigms though and it was a bit warm for my taste.

Bob Reina, a reviewer for a major American HIFi mag (Stereophile), uses the Creek Destiny amp and CD Player with Monitor Audio RS6 speakers as his 'affordable reference' setup... Creek and MA is supposed to be a good match... Also the Destiny has received rave reviews around the world (I believe it has received more raves than either the Primare or MF amps).... So I would say it is definitely worth an audition...

MF and MA get on very well too.

MA Rs6 are very good speakers in their price range. Try the Primare if what you're looking for is a huge soundstage (speaker positioning also helps a lot on this - move them away from the back wall).

Yes, I read somewhere that MA uses MF to test their speakers. Also read in one of the reviews that A5.5 build quality is 7/10 which caught me by the surprise (top vibrates above certain volume levels). Here in Canada A5.5 sells for CAD 3300 before tax and you would not expect such a lapse for that price.

To judge an amplifier based on an audition with different speakers ie. 2 products unknown to you unless the paradigms belonged to you, is tricky bordering on the impossible.

I have no great affection for most of Arcam's products but 'warm' is'nt how I would describe the A38. Clean sounding and relatively transparent with good depth and frequency extremes would, imho, be a more apt description, having used it with different speakers and sources. I won't go into the negatives.

sorry i should have said "it was too worm for my taste". it is individual perception like yours for MA RS6 and i'm totally fine with it. i've also listened to Bryston B100 SST and didn't find it exciting at all but much better than Arcam A38 (and pricier too).

for those interested in, creek destiny is one great amp and the combination: rega apollo + ma rs6 + nordost blue heaven speaker cables and ics is a deadly one. i just made myself a proud owner of the creek destiny integrated amp.

Congratulations!

It's always good to hear from members enjoying their new gear (especially gear I'm interested in!)...

Thanks, Destiny has such a sweet sound, neutral, very musical, am loving it. Dealer lent me a demo unit (came to my home and hooked it up) for a day and just after 1h long audition I knew I was going to go for it.

As I mentioned earlier I listened to Bryston B100 SST (received highest marks by WHF) with Focals (ok not MA) and Bryston source at the local dealer store and it was ok, but something was missing, there was no excitement, just a clinical sound with lots of bass (btw Bryston was quite more expensive).
