If you get any CDP you are always going to have one more dac on top of the Cambridge is what he is trying to say I believe. No, a complete CDP but pointless having a second Dac when I'm not fully utilising the Cambridge.

Al is correct. Don't all CDP have an internal DAC? If they don't then they're a CDT.No, a complete CDP but pointless having a second Dac when I'm not fully utilising the Cambridge.
Yes, I know all CDPs have built-in Dacs (converts a digital signal to analogue) but only has one digital out. So are you saying this Marantz has only one digital out to or more to connect it to other devices? If you get any CDP you are always going to have one more dac on top of the Cambridge is what he is trying to say I believe.
The SA14 has optical and coax outputs "if" you want to bypass the internal DAC... though I can't see why you would want to. It also has USB, coax, and optical inputs.Yes, I know all CDPs have built-in Dacs (converts a digital signal to analogue) but only has one digital out. Two digital outs on most, how many devices do you need to attach a CDP to??Yes, I know all CDPs have built-in Dacs (converts a digital signal to analogue) but only has one digital out. So are you saying this Marantz has only one digital out to or more to connect it to other devices?
If it's an all singing, all dancing CDP, who knows in the future. Two digital outs on most, how many devices do you need to attach a CDP to??
You aren't making much sense. There are only a couple of ways of connecting a CDP to a system. If it's an all singing, all dancing CDP, who knows in the future.
How many digital inputs/outputs does this particular Marantz CDP have? You aren't making much sense. There are only a couple of ways of connecting a CDP to a system.
The only way you’ll be able to play a SACD is with a machine like this Marantz. You cannot ‘output’ SACD to an external DAC.Cheers. The only things that put me off is the built-in Dac, as I've already got a Cambridge DacMagic and whether it's as good with CDs as it is with SACD, as I don't own any of the latter.
Inputs: 3 - USB, coaxial, opticalHow many digital inputs/outputs does this particular Marantz CDP have?
why would a CDP need a digital input? How many digital inputs/outputs does this particular Marantz CDP have?
You can use the DAC with a different source. It even takes a USB on the front.why would a CDP need a digital input?
I forgot about the USB on the front, cheers nopianoYou can use the DAC with a different source. It even takes a USB on the front.
These days they’re sometimes described as DAC transports, but the Marantz predates that affectation.
As an example I connect my current PC via USB, last PC was via coaxial, TV is connected via optical, second USB can take a thumb drive or phone if necessary. It's a very versatile box of trickswhy would a CDP need a digital input?

i know that, my Oppo has inputs as well as outputs by PP seems to want to include his Cambridge, unless I am very confused.... Which isn't difficult these days...You can use the DAC with a different source. It even takes a USB on the front.

Sorry Al, thought you were posing a general question.you connect a PC to a CDP?
I was asking PP why he needed to connect anything to a CDP considering he has the Dacmagic
I'm sure we are being toyed with.i know that, my Oppo has inputs as well as outputs by PP seems to want to include his Cambridge, unless I am very confused.... Which isn't difficult these days...
See post #28 and #23. I am confused!
Of course I'm not messing with you. I've asked if it has several digi connections I've no real need for the Cambridge, do I?Inputs: 3 - USB, coaxial, optical
Outputs: 3 - RCA, coaxial, optical
You sure you're not playing with us?![]()

Nope.Of course I'm not messing with you. I've asked if it has several digi connections I've no real need for the Cambridge, do I?
Yep. Doesn't particularly bother me - the Exposure didn't have one, but CDs are generally my secondary source. The listing says no remote, it must have originally had one?
