We aim to please!

Is it possible to describe the sound of Ayre AX-7e, (it is not possible to answer: No).

The Ayre is in the price range of a SuperNait.

Creek ... laid back, smooth, detailed.

I'd be surprised if you like the creek if what they say about the Elicit-R is true ... dynamic, a little forward (brash even?), pronounced transients, fun etc etc.

Exposure's 3010 would be my first port of call for an alternative. Incidently, another mag voted it the group test winner. The Destiny 2 was also in the test.

Another option would be cyrus. Dynamic, transparent with good texture and upgradeable. It's not 'bright' as so often quoted. Good deals around.

regards

Well Steve prefered the Naga to his Dynavector cart and they were/are also chalk and cheese in presentation so we will see eh .

Creek....... laid back, smooth ,detailed . Hmm , so no glare / spitch or general ruddy awfulness. Sounds good to me ;)

And me too. The Destiny 2 is one of the best sounding (to my ears at least) amps I've heard so far that is the right side of £3000.

Sugdens are good but I think the Destiny 2 just takes the biscuit.

I will do my best, but it will be mostly conjecture......I believe there is an owner on here, who may be of more use.

The Ayre has "only " 60W into 8 Ohms, but doubles that into 4 Ohms, so is a lot more gutsy than it first appears. It's also fully balanced and should sound better when used like this.

Sonically it's refined, musical, clean, detailed and involving. I don't believe it will be as rich as a Sugden or as "upfront and bouncy" as a Naim...but it is certainly gutsy and exciting, making it a good compromise between the two.

So imo. this may be a "budget" Ayre, but it has the same attention to detail as its more expensive siblings....match it with the right components, and you'll have a sweet system (pun intended).
