Couple of Sky related questions

I had Sky installed last week, unfortunately as it's an apartment I have a communal dish and there is only a single feed coming through meaning I can't use the Sky+ to its fullest. Is there an amplifier or splitter that would mean I can record one programme whilst watching another?

Also, the HD picture looks great (TV is a 40EX503) but the SD looks pretty poor. Since the Sky man has been I can't bring the 'options' up on the TV whilst the Sky box is on to fiddle with the contrasts etc. Does anyone know if there is a quick cure for this?

If you are on a communal dish then you will just have a single feed. You can record the program you are watching OR record a program while you are out, but you cant record one programm whils watching another. There is nothing you can do about this except to pursuade your landlord to install a second feed.

To bring up the options press the services button and then go to set up and then picture.

chudleighpaul: There is nothing you can do about this except to pursuade your landlord to install a second feed.Well,that depends on the type of communal system, and whether the installers/system owners planned for future expansion,otherwise it may/could turn into a very costly excercise...

Though, it's actually possible to send two satellite feeds down 1 cable by use of a stacker/de-stacker, provided cable of appropriate quality was used and there is adequate capacity at the headend, i.e spare ports at the multi-switch etc.

But either way,the OP would need to contact the freeholder/landlord/building management as the communal system is their responsibility.
