I've just read the Test in this months issue and noted that the suggested pairing was with the B&W 685 Theatre System and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on using this Amp with a set of B&W MT 30s?

The 608 will drive the MT30 package better than it would the 685 package, but I would say that the better the amp you get, the better the package will sound. Even the £1,000 KEF KHT3005se package sounds a lot better on a £1500 receiver when compared to a £400 one. I'm not saying you have to go that far, but spending more will give you benefits with either of those B&W packages.

If not something like the Onkyo, what would you recommend?

I'm currently running the speakers off of a Yamaha DSP-E800 and a Cambridge Audio A500 and wouldn't like to go too high, £600s probably my max, but only if the extra money provided tangible benefits.

Hi qwerty69

I am not too sure what you are looking for but my local home cinema shop has the B&W MT30 paired with the pioneer vsx-lx52 amp, which is currently about £550-600 (I think) which is an excellent price and i doubt it will be around for long at that price, also the new 53 has just come in around £1100 (I think).

I heard a demo on Batman Begins and it was really impressive.

Hope this helps abit

I think what I'd really like to know if how the 608 and the 875 compare?!?

Difficult to judge I know as they're not only different generations but also pitched at different price points but if I thought the 608 was even close for movies I'd be all over it.
