Connecting phone through 3.5mm jack to DAC (noob question)

Very shortly: I'm looking to connect my phone through the 3.5mm jack to my DAC (Roland Quad-Capture connected to a pair of active monitors), mostly so that other people can play their music through their phones when I'm hosting. And to have the option, anyway.

I just tested some speakers in a couple stores, and I was testing them intermittently with my phone or my laptop through the 3.5mm jack, but I stupidly forgot to ask what the setup was.

The headphone jack is analog, right? So I should be able to have a cable from the phone to the analogue inputs on the DAC? Something like a 3.5mm to TRS..?

I'm really looking for the simplest answer. I thought this was a common question - and couldn't find anything except confusing threads about how much power do DACs pull through the phone's microUSB out.
