bought a sony KDL - 40X3500 around three years ago and it developed a bad ghosting picture even with a external freeview box. phoned D&G and they said ok and sent my local TV repair guy round and they took it away. after LOTS of conversations (with my local TV repair guy not D&G) they rang me up leaving me a message saying it was fixed and ready to deliver. so i rang them up the next day and they informed me that they had done a check that morning (AY?? a thought it had already passed) and it failed and they hat to order a new circuit board. saying they replaced the panel first time and the old circuit board is the problem this time and it will take a week for the new part.. sounds to me like they replaced the circuit board first time which makes sence, then the next day whilst moving it smashed the screen. i have now found out that its been sent too some company through D&G called centra or something ( thats a guess) and cant give me delivery time!! how do i stand with this?? its been over a month now!!!

About 10 years ago when I rang up and complained about a TV being away for some ime they sent me a temporary set to use in the meantime.

Might be worth trying for that.

I had to send my tv off to be repaired at the end of Sept this year, they said it would only take about 3 days, but after a week they said it wouldn't be long now, in the end it took about 2 weeks, not even an offer of a replacement tv, wish i complained now, but my oh so typical Britishness came out in me and of course i didn't complain, kinda wish i did, if your cars getting repaired theres no second though about it, you simply get given a courtesy car, even when my phone was getting fixed i got a courtest phone! so why cant we get a courtesy tv? i advise that you ask for a courtesy tv, if its been a month now they are extracting the proverbial urine

They have an obligation to repair your TV within a reasonable time - this period of time is clearly unreasonable. Write them a letter informing them of their failure under the Sale of Goods and Supply of Goods and Services Act - suggest in the letter a replacement whilst they repair yours. Also state that if they do not respond then you will be forced to rent a comparable TV set to the one they are repairing, (do not rent a far more expensive one), and that you will then charge them the cost of the rental and then reclaim the cost in the small claims court.
