Having just updated my speaker cable to chord carnival silverscreen i'm now about to buy a new cd player interconnect. Does the difference in price for the above cables justify the difference in price?

I have no idea about the effect of interconnect cables on the sound of a hifi, so basically what im asking is what price-point for interconnects does the increase in price no longer have a worthwhile effect on sound

Its a NAD c326 amp, c545 cdp and tannoy f1 speakers.

The interconnect that i'm using at the moment is one i just found in a drawer somewhere, which probably came with a cheap dvd player or something about 10 years ago.

In which case, I think Crimson will be worthwhile step-up from the cable you're using, and I doubt that the subtle benefits of Cobra 3 would be too apparent on your current set-up.

Not that there's anything wrong with your player/amp/speakers - far from it. I just think the Crimson will do very nicely.

Thanks for your help! I wish i had never seen the chord cobra interconnect because i hate that feeling that there's always a slightly better product out there than the one i've got. I guess thatll always be the case though..

Silver High Breed Coherence or Synergy2i - can get them for the same price as Crimson yet they put to shame even the more expensive Chameleon (£125rrp). There was a thread of feedback on Synergy recently here, can't go wrong with 7-day guarantee. They do look home-made but once you hear them you won't care.

(I am in no way affiliated with the seller of the cables.)

Having read some of the posts about the silver high breed interconnects a few people were commenting on the brightness of the cable.

My amp and cd player are still quite new, but so far theyre not particularly bright so would the silver high breed interconnect maybe push it towards the bright side? Does anybody have any experience with the silver high breeds with the new nadc326 amp?

SHB are not bright but rather transparent. If one has a bright system, it may exacerbate the problem, but then people are reporting good results with CA equipment which tends to be on the bright side.

With NADs you don't have to worry about brightness no matter what cable you use.

Transparent is deffinately the word I would use not bright, I use it with CA kit and sounds great, much better than the merlin bach (£60) I was using. the trial period also means if you dont like them you can send them back!

Good point.

What's the difference in sound between the £15 synnergy 2i interconnect and the £28 coherence interconnect?

Length!

You didn't notice, the one for 15 is 0.3m.

I posted a thread on coherence recently. Main difference is Coherence uses 18awg conductors while S2i has 20awg conductors.
