Right,initial findings
Connected the Chameleon to line 1 on amp and left the original I/C`s on cd inputs and just swapped them over at the cd end so there was only a few seconds between change overs.Played same track at same volume etc.There was no obvious improvement/difference to my ears save maybe slightly improved bass but this could be placebo as it`s what I was listening for.IMO this could be down to few things;

1.The original I/C`s are of the same quality as the Chameleons

2.My ears are not good enough

3.Cables don`t affect sound much (take cover)

4.NOT ENOUGH BEER

5.A combination of all of the above

The conclusions above are only after a quick listen of the same track 3 times so a more in depth listen may show differences. The sound quality is excellent so I`m not disappointed as I needed another pair of I/C`s anyway.I`m in my late 40`s so I`m sure my ears are past their best anyway!

I just bought one too!

60 quid on ebay. Hope I hear an improvement

Just a bit of advice for those who have bought second hand, there was a bit of tarnish on the set I got so a treatment with de-oxit or similar might be in order to ensure the best possible connection.

I didn`t have the sub on during the first comparisons as I thought that might mask any difference but on the second more prolonged listen I turned it on and there seemed to be a big (better) change, now I don`t know if this is probable or even possible but the sub seemed to be producing lower, clearer bass. I played 3 very familiar albums and what I can say is that the level of detail was noticeably increased,I was hearing things not apparent before. I connected the Chameleons to the cd input on the amp but again don`t really know if that makes a difference from line 1 during the A/B comparisons.
Overall I think my original I/C`s (£20 off e-bay) were the weak link in my set up and am now very pleased I took Joels` advice :)

I think the only comparison you can do is against what you are used to hearing. As I said I was surprised by the amount of bass vs my old cable, and no loss of top end either. Glad you're pleased, but at the end of the day a cable is a cable and it can only really refine rather than completely alter. Mine altered more than I expected it to.

I had you down as much younger!

BTW how much younger?!

Well, given the dub reggae etc, about 20 years...

Old bloke

And at your age, I would recommend a good bottle of red over beer for an involving listen

Brasso worked very well indeed on all of my I/Cs, bananas, plug pins and fuses (gasp). The amount of black that came off was surprising.

Now do I spend a score on some deoxit gold for my already bloomin' expensive Clearer Audio Silverlines or is that just too nerdy?

I think it would push the better half over the edge

they do tarnish easily - i didn't clean mine before sending for fear of wiping off any of the chord logo's/print - thought would leave that to the buyer - its def worth cleaning all your connectors!!

igglebert:Brasso from Tescos!

Do they sell it anywhere else? I don't do Tescos.

And I can't imagine it sounding any good at £2.49, you need to spend hundreds on true audiophile stuff don't you. I bought a placebo the other day, and that cost me £550 on fleabay. Good tho', great effect

Sainsburys will do. Tesco are horrible, nasty culture. Worked with them for about a year and they were just rude and expected everything for nothing.

Call me old fashioned but I will work my socks off for a nice client.

i never overly clean stuff now before sending as once wiped all the function buttns off a remote as was trying to make it look perfect - left in unusable!!!

its just like silver jewellery it tarnishes over time with exposure to the air

its def dirt - the inside that connects will be virtually clean as they have always been plugged in to the cdp/amp its just the outer casing - silver tarnishes with air - any de-oxit cleaner will do, mentioned above is brasso and i guess prob silver cleaner.

if you clean them make sure what ever you use is well rubbed off and make sure everything is dry/no residue before reconnecting

also clean all you plug pins, interconnects, banana plugs ect

matengawhat:don't worry - its been well looked after and as i said only reason for change is had to buy a 1m one due to my new rack as the mf amp has outputs at opposite ends of the amp and i needed to put my power amp to the left or right instead of below. i have bought another Chord Chameleon as think its a great cable and sure you will see a good improvement over what ever you are currently using.

We believe you (thousands wouldn't)

Christ on a bike they're expensive (deoxit), might as well have bought a brand new one for the price of mine + deoxit!

I think I'll leave it dirty...

You can get a 2ml tube of deoxit from e-bay for around £7 plus postage,it`s a very small tube but it goes a long way, cleaned all my connections and still have a fair bit left
