Just bought a Chord Chameleon Silver Plus interconnect cable from e-bay (£54 used) I currently have an interconnect that I got from e-bay a couple of years ago, seduction audio I think, in theory there should be an improvement/difference in sound so I`ll let you know if I can hear anything.Should arrive sometime next week.

I like mine too, was very surprised just how much more bass it gave me over the vdh d102 III I was using.

ÿ

In fact Joel it was your comment about more bass in another thread that set me off on the e-bay quest for the silver + at a reasonable price.

Hello,

Let us have your comments on the I/C!!

I will have to buy one and depending on the opinions I might buy one too, I know the bass is good, what about the mids and treble??

Thanks,

That's not the same interconnect that you were using to take your dog for a walk is it?

Funny.

don't worry - its been well looked after and as i said only reason for change is had to buy a 1m one due to my new rack as the mf amp has outputs at opposite ends of the amp and i needed to put my power amp to the left or right instead of below. i have bought another Chord Chameleon as think its a great cable and sure you will see a good improvement over what ever you are currently using.

Haha, I was just being sarky with the 'funny', I'm sure it's fine, eagerly awaiting the postman, using Cambridge Audio Pacific i/c

Thanks

My cable just arrived, it's noticabley looser an the connections than my CA one, but seems to be okay.

I am listening now and I'll be honest, I'm not sure I can hear a difference or not, but my system is sounding excellent, though I often think that, but hey maybe with more time I will notice differences, saying that I am currently taking deep breathes listening to Spor - Levitate, wow!

Maybe it is better but it's kinda hard to do an a comparison!

matengawhat:how you getting on with them now - i thought they just made everything sound a little smoother and added a little bass weight in my setup

I had same result in my setup tho I expected a bit more from them. Moved from Van Den Hul The Name IC`s.

They should give noticably better result then pacific IC`s so do some A/B testing and I`m sure you`ll like them

I used VDH 'Name' and Chord Cobra 3 for ages in my system. I borrowed a Chord Chameleon from a friend and even using direct A/B comparison via the 2 CD outputs to be honest i could not hear too much difference to the VDH 'Name' - the Chord had a tad more bass but VDH more sparkle - this is not to put down the Chameleon just i now think the 'Name' is amazing value. Both were a tad better than the Cobra.

In the end i sold the Cobra and by fortune got a new VDH D-102 III for the same price with the current connecters too (ebay has loads with older connectors on them).

Personally I find VDH have generally more sparkle than Chord, but the Chameleon more bass but are slightly dampened at the top end. Benefits are probably system dependent. However for the price VDH 'Name' gets my vote.

Hi,

I didnt like the vdh d-102 III as much as Kimber PBJ, it had more bass than the kimber but the kimber was more natural, punchier bass, and it revealed more detail and air in the soundstage. The Chord cobra 3 I found to be more musical on my system, the VDH more harsh - brighter though.

In aussie the chord chamelon is around $340 which is quite expensive - over half the price of a Cambridge 340c. I could imagine it would be good for higher end system - there use to be a rule of thumb - spend 10% on wire/interconnects etc of your whole systems price. If I could afford it I wouldnt mind trying the chord chamelon to see how much better than the kimber pbj or timbre or even compare it with the Nordost BH.

Cheers,

Steve.
