Hi , can some one advise on a good hard drive media player.I was looking to free up space on my PC and noticed that media players might be good choice.I have seen what looks like entry level types in Maplin and i stumbled on a product on the pixmania website-LaCie LACINEMA which offers hdmi upscaling. looking for something that will do a decent job in getting the best outputs. I have A 32'' CRT tv which i will be changing to a 42'' LCD later in the year probably full Def for future proof? If i'm in the wrong forum page , please accept my apologies.

Hi joe Soap,

I'm currently looking into getting the same thing. Here are some options you might want to consider:

MVIX: http://www.mvix.net.au/index.html (this is what I'm leaning towards at the moment -HD 780 does HDMI and wireless, as well upgrades for torrent downloads)

Mediagate: http://www.mediagateusa.com/products.html

Popcorn hour: http://www.popcornhour.com/ (brilliant system with a stupid name, but it plays everything inc MKV (hi-def compressed files) and even does torrent downloads directly without need for a computer - unfortunately theres a waiting list of months!)

Dvico Tvix: http://www.cnet.com.au/dvdpvr/pvr/0,239035858,339283113,00.htm (these are pretty good, more high end but very expensive -the Mvix will do the same for much cheaper)

Well theres something to think about, good luck with it.
