I have just upgraded from a Marantz 66 SE to a Marants 66 KI signature after one channel gave up the ghost.

At moment it is paired with JPW ML 510's which suited my old amp; which had a looser sound but the signature it tighter and more rythmic but is a bit lean in the base.

I think could do with a pair of floorstander with more oomph in the bass. Can anyone help?

many thanks

depends on your budget

I have very good results with the old B&W DM2 speakers (1st version ... same tweeters/supertweeters as the old spendor BC1) .... these can be bought for fairly cheap ... a pair in good condition sold recently on ebay for £33 .... average prices are between £180-£250 ... paid £50 for mine, but cabinets were a bit 'tatty' ... these are transmission design, so bass is good

if looking at new, perhaps the new spendors could be a good match? ....

the old mission 753 (not the freedom model) works very well with the K1 sig cdp and Pioneer A400 amp .... these sell for approx £200 on ebay

but all depends what cdp and cabling you are using, so best to try audition first before commiting

I had this amp with a pair of mission 752 speakers and found the sound much to lean for my liking. I think you need a speaker with an emphasis on the lower frequencies. I solved the lack of bass with a Sansui amp...
