Hi,

i have auditioned Wharfedale Diamond 9.5 Floor Stand Speakers with Marantz PM4001, music was smooth. never heard with CA 340, is CA 340+9.5 good combo or PM4001+9.5 ?, dont want either combos to be bright !

i listen to soft rock, like tight bass.

thanx a TON.

only an audition will answer your question.as you like the smoothness of the marantz and wharfedale combo at least you'll have a heads up when you listen to the ca 340.most new gear is a bit bright at first and speakers need time to run in and loosen up a bit.i like both amps, the ca 340 is foreward sounding but that can be argued as detailed, the marantz has warmer sound in my opinion, not valve like but a bit lusher.good luck, gregory.

Mr Andrew,

Do you think marantz PM4001 can handle or drive well? Its only 30wpc and the wharfe 9.5 is 88db. Im also planning to try this combination.

Thanks

I had a PM4001 briefly and thought it was massively lacking in drive and power. One of the most decidedly average budget amps I've ever heard. I'd be looking at a NAD C315BEE at this price. Better than the Marantz or the Cambridge in my opinion.

Hi there -

Yes, PM4001 and Diamond 9.5 is an excellent combo, don't worry 4001 can drive it well and you won't be left high and dry. Having said that, 9.5 will benefit more from a better amp like 6002.
Have you audition this combo ?

PS - Sorry am not Andrew

Thanks Vinod. I heard the PM7001 and 9.5 combo and it was great. When i asked the store guy if PM4001 and PM6001 would also drive well? He answered to me right away that wharfe 9.5 needs a lot of power to sing since its 88db. Maybe he was just lazy to connect the PM4001 or PM6002

He suggested the Mission M34i with PM4001/PM6002.

Guys my new toy is PM6002 and wharfe 9.5

The amp drives well with deep and controlled bass. High and mids are perfect! nice combo
