Hi. Got a new CA 640C V2 cdp and CA 640A V2 amp. Was inclined towards Avant 906i and Boston VR2 speakers. Now, the MA bug has bitten me, and i really wanted to stretch, budget wise, to get the amazing RS6, but I haven't heard the RS6 personally though (just review). My question is, will Cambridge setup go well with the MA RS6, or should i stick to MS Avant or Boston speakers? past, present owners of RS6 owners and CA with RS6 owners, your detailed opinion please. Thanx.

yes, cambridge should go well with MA speakers. Dont use qed silver anniversary cable though. It might make the treble a bit too much.

I have the M/A RS6 speakers along with Arcam CD and amp combo and use the QED Silver bi-wire cables and in my opinion, they go very well together

You need to use the cable with your set up and make sure that you give the cable and speakers at least 100hours running in time. Only then you will be able to tell whether its the right cable for you.

The M/A Silver speakers have treble thats a little forward with most amps/sources but good British amps/CD players (like NAD, Arcam and C/A) suit the speakers as theyre a little smoother in the midrange and treble.

What interconnects are you using?

No you havent made a mistake in buying the QED, speaker cable can be very hard to suss out if youre new to the hifi game etc...

Most buy speaker cable upon recommendation and on what the dealers suggest etc. The QED has 5 star write ups so its obviously good!

You have to listen to the system once all connected and set up right, and once run in, as i said above, then youll know whether its the right cable for you and the music you listen to.

As for interconnects id suggest Chrord Chrimson, Van Den Hul 'The Name' or the QED Quenex 2 or 3 inteconnects. All of which you can buy on Ebay and save £££ compared to what youd pay in the shops.

Id definitly suggest that if youve got a Sevenoaks local to you, contact them and arrange a demo with the Monitor Audio BR2's (standmount speakers), the BR5's and the RS6's also. Im sure they'll be fine with you taking your C/A amp and CD player combo along as well.

Tell them that you'd like to audition the speakers with your speaker cable as well (if possible as its less hassle for them then). See if you can ask to audition either of the QED interconnects i mentioned above as well.

If you decide to go for the M/A speakers, tell them that you know they had a deal on M/A speakers a month or so back (they were offering 25% off) and see if they can do a deal for you!

Monitor Audio suggets to keep the speakers face to face for running in, and connecting some wires negative and positives, am not sure about this, how to run in MA speakers ?

its called wiring out of phase.it workd as it reduces the volume allowing you to leave speakers on all day or night and not annoy anyone.Breaks them in quicker. You need to face the speakers as you said.It does work as i have done it.Its useful with MA speakers as they takes so long to run in. As for the cable, no you have not made a bad choice but its an overrated cable and there is better for the money. i had qed original silver annversary at £5 p/m. I got it on a recommendation from a friend. I thought it sounded a little thin with a slightly bright treble. It did not sound nice on my mon audio's. I changed to dnm reson mark 2.It turned out to be a far better cable.a lot more weight to the sound and a smoother treble.More realistic sounding too. 2 of my friends did exact same, one even ditched his qed the next day! The dnm reson is that much better. You should consider it for your next upgrade. It can be got on line for £6.15 p/m.the rrp is £7.95. i think the qed should do you meantime as the RS6s are so weighty anyway.
