michael hoy:
Rik,

Is it this model - X-rite Eye-One Display2.

My reason for asking is that it does not mention anything about plasma in the spec.

'Some' plasmas emit infra red which can change the result a little. But as most spyders are quite a bit out of calibration its still more accurate to use an eye one display 2 (as a ratio, you have a one in 3 chance or less of buying a pretty accurate spyder). Keeping the room nice and cool would help with IR emissions

As plasmas tend to be more energy efficient these days id say the IR matters less and less with more modern designs

That said, ive no way of truly checking results

Yep, agree with Rik, the Eye One is better, and should be fine calibrating a plasma.

Bear in mind also that changes in temperature (particularly during a calibration session) can affect the accuracy of meters. So if you plan to have the meter resting on the screen to take measurements (and plasma's can tend to get quite hot) have the screen running for half an hour or so with the meter resting on it, so both are at 'operating temperature' before you start calibrating.

Alternatively have the Eye One on a tripod a few inches from the screen, though if your screen is anything like my friends Pioneer (which doubles as an electric fire - though one with a very good picture), temperature changes may still be someting to factor in.
