Have been given a sample of a cable: 'Silver Screen speaker cable'. Its huge. What is the purpose of the layers covering

a small conductor pair in the middle

So what's it supposed to screen, Radioactivity ? I was given it by a chap who builds valve amps. He says it is the biggest 'con' he knows. Silver paper is sufficient he tells me. The sound from his equipment sounds superb to those of us who listen to it. He uses what looks like cheap cable. Certainly minimal 'screening' it appears. Fascinating stuff Thanks for replies. I live and learn
