Dear Hi Fi Enthusiasts,

I just brought the above combination of CA Amp + Marantz CD player.

I have yet to decide the speakers.. I would like to hear and get advice on which Floorstander or Bookshelf speakers would be a good match for them? My budget is 600pounds for Floor stander and 300 pounds for book shelf.

Thanks and best rgds,

Alvin

Hi:

Congrats! The following speakers would really gel well with your setup -

Floorstanders
- MA RS6 (should go less price wise after RX6 is into market)
- BR5
- Diamond 9.5/9.6/10.5
- Mission m34i/m35i
- MS 906i/914i

Bookshelf
- RS1
- Diamond 9.1/9.2/10.1
- MS 902i

All what I heard. There are many other speakers, but I haven't heard them, so can't recommend them enough.

Hi David, thanks for your continuous advice... left the last task of choosing a pair of speakers

noticed you've put Monitor audio speakers as 1st choice followed by Wharfedale diamonds... Actually i am thinking of wharfedale diamond series... but i will definitely audition monitor audio too...

In your opinion, wharfedale diamond or monitor Audio is more capable of below :

1) tame the brightness nature of CA amp and still able to

2) retain the detail treble

3) retain Warm midrange

4) have taut and pacey bass ?

Dear David ,

Thanks a lot for sharing ....it means alot i now have an idea of which floorstander to match and bookshelf to match.

Initially i still thought of saving $$ and go for B&W since all this while B&W is very consistent and good review with its bookshelf and floorstander

Ya just one last thing, by the way i wish to include Chord carnival silver Speaker cables and Ecosse Best boy interconnect

Speaker cables price is fine with me .. but interconnect i wish to spend around 35pound . would this be alright for me ?

Budget budget amp 🙂

Cheers ...

Hi Alvin:

That wouldn't be a problem regarding IC. Please audition the speakers that are in your list and also the cables and IC before taking the plunge.

Why is your budget different for standmounts and floorstanders?

What sort of sound do you like? Music?

The Atlas Equator gets good reports around this money, and QED have decent speaker cable to add to the list.

Hi Joel,

I wish to buy a floorstander whereby the bass driver; midrange ; and treble is separated so the sound is clearer and vocal; bass & treble timing sounds more accurate. Therefore i noticed the five star budget floorstanders that can meet this requirements is around 600 pounds

As For stand mounts those famous budgets like tannoy ; MS ; MA & Wharfedales costs around 300 pounds...

The standmounts is for my bedroom the floorstander for my living room

thanks for the cables & interconnect recommendation 🙂

I've just bought myself a new 640A V2 (for a bargainous £150) which will be fed by a Muscial Fidelity V-DAC. To tame the brightness of the 640A I went for Diamond 9.1s (£100 from Super Fi). I've heard the 9.1s many times and love their sound (very good value for money) and chose them over the MS 902is as I find they sound a bit too bright with the CA amp. I've not set my system up yet (waiting on the DAC to arrive) but will be back with some feedback in a few days.

Finally I brought CA Azur 640 A V2 + Marantz CD6002 + Wharfedale 9.1 Speakers

IC Ecosse Best Boy + Chord Carnival Sliverscreen after much Auditioning from the recommendation from forum

Thanks to all Advisers

Best Rgds,
