Hi adamdrums4

I've not heard the BX2's with valve amplifiaction yet however within the BX2's price range Yamaha's new A-S500 is a good match.

Btw, which valve amps have you got in mind please?

Was thinking of the fatman valve carbon mk2. Basically it has got great reviews and an i pod dock. Read the great reviews on the Yamaha also but it is twice the money..

Hi adamdrums4

The fatman should work well with the BX2's as long as you're not planning to play at party like levels. I've not heard the fatman so don't know how it would compare to the A-S500. I suppose there is only one way for you to find out.

Hi Adam

The BX2's have a high sensitivity and are a benign load so they'll be fine with the fatman. I am sorry i can't help you with the fatman speakers as i've not heard them.

rick, if you dont mind me asking, and apologies to the op for the thread hijack..

would you think a pm66se ki sig is a better amp than a pm7000?

id love to get a rotel 1062 having heard nothing but good things about them, but its very difficult finding a seller willing to post to ireland

Hi maxflinn

Yes, it is a close call but the PM66KI's performance edges the PM7000's. The RA-1062 betters both of them

Btw, as you are happy to buy used another amp to consider is the PM-64 from Marantz. PM-64's are hard to come but the time and effort is worth it. PM-64 easily betters the PM66KI, PM7000 and even the highly impressive RA-1062. Old is gold!

ah thats a shame rick, a remote is essential to me as i sometimes need to quickly turn the volume down if a real bassy track catches me by surprise

thanks again for your advice rick, ive asked a certain ebay seller if he'll post his ki sig to me, if not ill probably get a yamaha A-S500, i think id be quite happy with either

Hi maxflinn

Fair enough altough you could have gradually improved your reaction times!

Anway i would genuinely have the A-S500 over the PM66KI anyday. The A-S500 is playing in the background conected to a QBD76 and it sounds sublime.

To Rick:

I mean going for the fatman bx2 option and in the future can always upgrade amp and leave the fatman for secondary amp for smaller system..

Looks great but what is the best way to play i pod through this? without loosing too much quality and spending too much extra..?

Thanks
