The difference between chips implementation in CD players and dedicated DACs especially Tube output design DACs is entirely different league. I own MB™ DAC -WM1 Tube DAC and can not ask for more. Even if it costs a bit more money its worth to listen to, your music wouldn`t sound the same.
my view for what it's worth is..they seem similar to me..i tested two of my cd players and my amps dac..so three different dacs went through my system..boiled down to not better but different and which difference did I like the best? Believe it or not the iPod dac thru my t amp into main speakers was in a different league...(music from you tube too! Nuts I know..)manicm said:steve_1979 said:MykhailM said:After owning quite a few CD players with different Chips and auditioning various DACs I can say that any well known chip in Audiophile quality designed Tube DAC is worth to listen. Mykhail's first language is evidently not English, but if what he's saying that not all dac chips are made equal he's probably right. Note that Chord essentially design their own dac chips, and their dacs like the Hugo have been universally acclaimed by both reviewers and customers alike.
