Hi guys,

Have a Cambridge 540A amp and after some bookshelf speakers.

Narrowed it down to Wharfedale 9.1 or 10.1 or Cambridge S30?

Any thoughts? They are to replace my floorstanding Gale 3030 and will go on a cabinet rather than stands.

Budget is £150 with wires, etc.

Interesting.

Richer Sounds said the Cambridge.

And are speakers ok on a shelf?

Yes, they work perfect on a shelf (close to the wall) but ofcourse, with a dedicated stand and little bit playing with distances, you will get slightly better results.

But the 9.1 are superior despite the Assistant telling me otherwise?

I've owned both (and still have a pair of 9.1s). I'd vote for the 9.1s every time. Much better speakers and an absolute bargain these days. FWIW I think the 9.1s are superior to the 10.1s although both are excellent.
