Hi Guys and Gals

Is anybody aware of any blu-ray DVD's with a proper 7.1 soundtrack?

Notice in another thread whilst you tested the new Samsung Blu-ray in abox 7.1 system that you mentioned testing it with a true 7.1 soundtrack, "old boys" I think you said (my apologies if I've got that wrong, only just read it and forgotten already!). So seeing as this is a true 7.1 soundtrack I wondered if there were any others available?

Cheers

Cameron.

Hi, after a little searching i managed to find a few films which appear to be available in 7.1 surround.

These include; Dark City, Be Kind Rewind, The Orphanage, and Rambo.

I tried to check if the UK versions also had the 7.1 but the sites i visited were unhelpful. On the plus side I have just ordered The Orphanage and Be Kind Rewind on Blu Ray, so I'll find out within the next few day for sure and post back.

Thanks for the reply, i was starting to think there was no answer to this question!

Would be great if you could get back to me with your findings.

Now I've switched to Blu-ray with the new HD codecs am I the only one to start thinking all the outlay on a proper 7.1 set up is a complete waste of time?

Would be great to hear the What Hifi Teams views on this topic........

Thanks once again

Cameron

Just checked my collection and I confirm the only two that DO are :

3:10 To Yuma
Dark City

Rambo does NOT (UK release doesn't anyway).

Hope this helps.

It seems as though some American blu rays have more channels of surround than our UK versions. I've just check The Orphanage, and that only has uncompressed 5.1 unlike the Americans which get 7.1. Boo.

Although, as already mentioned, the UK 3 10 To Yuma has the full 7.1.

Hopefully Be Kind Rewind will arrive tomorrow so i'll post back then.

3 for 2 on Blu Rays at both amazon.co.uk and play.com
