i have recently purchased a new sony 760 bdp, denon 1910 and have a pana 32lzd85. while watching a couple of films on blu ray including star trek, i have noticed (not sure if theres a techie word for this) bad pixelation around people at times, like an aura say, is this down to the film, my 760 player, my tv or does blu ray have these minor flaw issues at times while viewing. is this something i an rectify ?

You have a very well regarded player so I would guess it is the blu rays in question

I just watched Star Trek yesterday and was amazed by the quality of the picture and sound. Crystal clear blu-ray transfer.

I guess your problem lies in settings somewhere, which needs optimisation. Have you calibrated your TV or left it at factory settings?

I can only agree with ValianTX, the star trek blu ray is up there with the best of them. i watched it a couple of nights ago and picture & sound are awesom. not sure what ur problem is but its def not the star trek blu ray!

It almost sounds like you're not watching an HD picture, have you set the BDP to output 1080p (or 720p if it's only an HD ready TV)?

One presumes everything is connected via HDMI?

everything is hdmi. tv full 1080p. the problem occurred during an outdoor scene in star trek, i can only say that during this scene there was what i can only say as pixelating problems where around the actors was a faint blurred lined around them. the only reason i ask is because i had the same thing during a couple of scenes of the traitor ? all of the other films have been fine. the general picture from the 760 is amazing

I can only put that down to the TV. Was it happening with extreme contrasting colours? Like dark against light or light against dark? If so, I'd say it's the TV. Take of any digital filters or combing on the TV, so it's just a straight picture.

Hi

1. Have you checked the HDMI lead is located properly?

2. Are you using a very cheap HDMI lead?

If the lead is located properly try swapping the lead with another to see if the problem persists

all of my cables are fine and qed leads. i rented angels and demons this weekend and am still getting pixellation issues. notice it around people with motion and also as someone mentioned above dark on white backgrounds. its slight but when you notice it it drives me insane. all tv comb and picture bits are off. sony 760 into 1910 and into tv. can it be the denon causing an issue and can i change settings within that or is it my tv ? what is going on ?

Try the Sony straight into the TV this may determine whether it's a fault with the Denon, also try putting the hdmi cable into another hdmi 2 on tv and also change around the cables. Sometimes you get a loose hdmi socket and unless the cable stays in fully you get some pixelation, notice that on my Samsung, but only occurs with Xbox Elite connected.

cheers for that. i think the issue is resolved. turns out after re juggling leads and connections it was my tv connection hdmi 1, switched to hdmi 2 and no apparent issues. thanks very much as was hoping it wasn't the player or amp. should have thought of that myself but again, very greatful to these forums.

I would make sure that you have ALL processing turned to off on your TV and player. That means DNR, movie mode (or whatever your TV calls it), Motion Control or anything at all that effects the picture. 100hz or 24fps should automatically vanish as an option when you play a BD disc,
