Too expensive...hence I refer to them as Sting Rays!

Also...still no sign of all these new super dooper players......makes you wonder what the manufacturers are up to or not as the evidence seems to suggest

The only Blu ray player worth it's salt still appears to be the PS3 hybrid Games/Blu Ray player.

The more recent Samsung BD P 1400 also appears to be good but doesn't seem to cut the mustard when playing back normal DVD's

So...............what else is there to boast about?

I suspect all those "super dooper" players are still in development. It's not so long ago that the HD-DVD/Blu-ray format war was resolved, and it often takes several months (if not longer) for manufacturers to gear up for production and ship product to the UK (especially if manufactured in the Far East).

So it's more likely we'll see new Blu-ray players from the likes of Marantz, Denon et al in late summer/early autumn of this year.

Excellent budget Blu-ray option available now from Panasonic (the DMP-BD30), with the higher-spec DMP-BD50 due next month.

But there's certainly no stampede!

Sony have two new players out this summer and Pioneer also have a new model out. Panasonic have just released the excellent BD30 and the BD50 is coming very soon. I am sure there will be a great selection to choose from between the summer and Christmas.

BTW don't people remember when DVD players first came out and how expensive they were. Over a thousand pounds. Prices will come down with adoption of the format.

Undoubtedly true. It's still relatively early days for Blu-ray, but now that we have a single HD format, there's more incentive for manufacturers to ramp up production of players. And once economies of scale kick in, prices will fall (just look at the flatscreen TV market).

Mind you, I still think streaming/downloading of HD content will become increasingly popular with no need for a disc.
