We have just moved in to our first place and I have a fairly decent / average sized living room (which is luckily quite square). I have just bought a Samsung 46F86 LCD TV, gonna wall mount it and before I do I need to decide on a surround system (so I can hide all the wires etc). Cost wise I would say I have approx £1000 to spend on a surround setup but less would be great, likewise if its worth spending more than I will. £1000 being a ball park figure. Most important however is the look of the setup and discreetness. We have fairly modern looking furniture and whilst the living room is a decent enough size, we ideally would like wall mounted speakers (as floor standers would encroach too much in that space). I am more of a TV buff these days and have not ventured in to home cinema much recently, so please suggest away what a good setup would be as I really don't have much of an idea at present. Thanks greatly in advance for any advice... ;-)

hi mate. forget Bose. a qiuck listen might impress, but not long term. right, with that out of the way i would go for either the Kef 3005 sats, or buy five B&W M1's and get a rel 205 sub or a subwoofer from BK electronics. both would leave a packaged sub for dead. having heard the BK which costs 300 quid it battered by old pv1!! which cost me nearly a grand. personally i would go for the m1's and the rel. the subs are never much cop with packages. best thing you cn do is find a good dealer. sevenoaks are usually helpful. i used to own the m1's with a pv1. the pv1 was ok at best but is not a true subwoofer, but i teamed the m1's with a rel 305 and the results were great given the price of the m1's at £125 each. the rel 205 is a smaller version than my 305 and comes in a choice of finishes including piano balck gloss. just upgraded from my m1's to B&W xt4's with XTC and would happily have done you a deal on the M1's ut sold them yesterday. go and give them a listen and also the kefs, either way you wont go far wrong, just forget packaged subwoofers.

Where do you think the best place to buy these M1's is? I have done a quick google search but doesn't return a lot in terms of retailers :-( lol...

Many thanks for the advice and taking the time to post ;-)
