With black friday upon us im using the discount to upgrade my system and have a dilema.Budget of around £750
Current system is
Pro-Ject T1 Evo BT turntable
Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 floor standers
2022 Yamaha AV amp

Upgrade choice im looking at is combination
Marantz pm6007 Integrated amp (What HiFi Winner) £369
And wiim ultra streamer (What HiFi Winner) £279

Or just
Arcam A5+ £749 Integrated amp (What HiFi Winner) £749

My logic is Arcam will be future proof for many years and will add a streamer when i have more funds
Or grab Marantz and Wiim as also great kit and good deal

Any thoughts most welcome

The Marantz is a great amp, and hard to beat at the price, however, getting a bit long in the tooth, will it be replaced and be available cheaper in future?

A quick google tells me you can get you can get the Arcam for £550, maybe £500.

I would also be considering the Audiolab 6000A, you can get the outgoing model for £299 in silver or £399 in black. this amp was five star rated in WHF a couple of years ago at £750.

They are all great amps, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Get wiim amp ultra a good mic for room correction and a subwoofer

Adds so much having room correction PEQ, regular eq and that you can sit and adjust a subwoofer where you listen to your music + the addition of a subwoofer

Sub mabye this one

Here it's what equal to £464

This is a good mic https://www.audiophonics.fr/en/measurement-microphones/dayton-audio-imm-6c-p-18562.html

I suspect the PM6007 will be replaced before too long. They've steadily been working down the range with the new brand aesthetic, and most recently they have replaced the PM7000N with the Model 60n, although at a higher price point for something which behind the facade is more of a development than a revolution.

The original Arcam A5 can still be had at reduced prices, and its not a bad amp, but the original 6000A is more balanced sounding - I say this having owned both. I haven't heard the new A5+ version, but that's £750, and the MkII version of the 6000A is less than that. Either version of the 6000A with a WiiM Pro (ask yourself whether you really are bothered about a screen on the streamer - I could live without one) connected to the digital inputs on the amp, would make a great buy. If you went for the original 600A, you're looking at £549 for amp and streamer.

I've owned a WiiM Amp Ultra, and it's a talented box, but not especially engaging sounding. It is also limited on the inputs front, including having no phono input. Both the Audiolab and Arcam amps include very good phono stages.

As you state, the Wiim Amp Ultra does not have a phono input, only line in. However, the Pro-Ject T1 Evo BT turntable has an in-built phono stage.
