Bipole/dipole speaker placement

Hi all,

Im looking at the monitor audio silver sxfx surrounds to use in my 5.1 set up. I'm just a bit confused as to their positioning. They can be switched between bipole to dipole for flexibility. Some say side walls others say rear walls. My listening position is close to the rear wall about a foot away. Not sure if that makes a difference to their placement.

Any tips or advise would be most welcomed.…

Dipole speakers on side walls should be at least 1-1.5m away from the rear wall - the further the better. The closer they are, the more HF reflection you'll get off the back wall, drawing attention to their position.

Rear placement should be set to bipole.

I haven't got that 1m on the side walls to bring them away from the rear wall. So I guess I just mount them on the rear wall in bipole . As my seating position is only about a foot away from the rear wall how far apart should I mount them and how high from the floor should they be…?
