Bi-wiring a budget system?

I am currently using Chord carnival silverscreen which runs between my old technics su-a900mk2 and Q acoustics 1050i. I am sure bi-wiring a expensive setup will show improvements but is it likely to make a difference on a budget system like mine? I know in the end it comes down to what sounds right to me but just wanted others opinion and experiences on the matter.

I`d say yes, improvements would be heard, especially if your amp has two sets of speaker outs that could be used in such an arrangement.

Could be worth considering using a better single run of speaker cable and using a 'jumper lead' between your bi-wire speaker binding posts, rather than the link that's currently there ......

thanks for the replies. will using both the channels on the amp make any difference to the sound quality?

I lost one of the original links so at the moment I am just using a few inches of the chord carnival silverscreen as jumpers, is it better to buy dedicated jumpers?

What do you think of the 1050i floorstanders? Do they live up to the good reviews I've heard of elsewhere? Don't know many people who've got them at home, but the seem to promise much.

If im honest they are very good for what I paid for them (£250 about a year ago) and when I had a problem with the tweeters Steve from Armour helped me get them changed for a brand new set. They are much better then the mission m74i they replaced as the missions needed to be a good distance away from the wall, but the missions could definately go lower.

The 1050i's need to be spread quite far apart and considering the size of the cabinets the bass does seem a little light at times also the treble can be a little brighter then I like but that changes from album to album. They are front ported so they are fine going close to a wall. I dont like them as much as my old tanoy r1 bookshelfs but then the tannoy's were £200 for a small bookshelf around 10 years ago.

Overall I am happy with them and cant see myself upgrading for a good few years. I have added a subwoofer which I have set to 50hz so where the 1050i's start falling short the sub takes over and changed my speaker cable from silver anniversay to chord carnival silverscreen which has knocked the bright treble down a notch. I wouldnt buy a pair without listening to it or just on the support of reviews but considering they can be had for under £300 they are definately worth a listen however im not sure I would change your mission 752 for these.

I'm probably sticking my neck out here but yes, using both channels will improve sound quality. It's a bit like bi-amping which I think we can all agree gives great sound ( hiding behind the sofa now in anticipation of flames ).

Using the same cable for jumpers as is used for amp/speaker runs is usually felt to be better than the supplied jumpers.

Not sure how different jumpers would work, but quality ones are worth the investment I reckon.

Russ Andrews do them

but most shops can make you some up I would expect, or do them yourself .......
