Best way to route speaker cable through fire place?

Hi all.

Ive currently managed to route a chord carnival cable nice around my current fire place. But, if I ever upgrad by amp and/or speakers, some bi-wire cable would be preferred.

Now, I'm also thinking of changing my entire fire place from a gas fire place to a wood burning stove. So, the base will need to be changed and a bigger hole in the wall. What's the best way to route the cable? Beneath the plinth? And flat cable like the Rega or Van Den Hul, or the quite large diameter bi-wire chord carnival?

Whether this is the best way or not who knows but when I did my fireplace I ran a pipe under the plinth. When you change cables or need to add any you can just pull them through. If this would work for you would depend on your fireplace.
