Hi

I am looking to replace 26" Panasonic CRT with a new LCD/PLASMA. Picture comes from freeview and I will invest in PS3/Apple TV once I get the new TV.

Reviews suggest that PLASMAs are the way to go (Panasonic TH42PX80B) but I am concerned that plasmas are being scaled back as they have high energy ratings. As an alternative I have looked at the new Toshiba XV555DB with the upscaling claims but their isnt a great deal of info on how good the upscaling is and I have concerns about whether Toshiba is as reliable a name as Panasonic.

Does anyone have any guidance on this issue?

Thanks

If you're planning to use the TV's internal Freeview tuner (as opposed to an external Freeview box/PVR), i'd go with Panasonic - the best TV tuners at that size/price.

Modern plasmas use a fraction of the energy of their predecessors, so I wouldn't fret about that. This year's crop are more energy efficient than ever -the brand new Panasonic TX-P42X10B could suit you perfectly.
